The Spits (USA)

About The Spits

Playing old-school punk rock with snottiness and mordant humor, the Spits have had a long career with a mix of attitude, eccentricity, and muscle. Founders Sean (guitar/vocals) and Erin Wood (bass/vocals), siblings from Allegan, Michigan, started making music in 1987 with the Riot Midgets.

They moved to Seattle in 1990, forming the Spits a year later with drummer Wayne Draves. The band played local gigs before releasing their first single, „Tired and Lonely,“ in 1997. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2000 via Nickel & Dime Records. Known for wild stage shows and costumes, the Spits toured heavily. The drummer’s position often changed, and when they added a keyboard player, that role also saw frequent changes.

Despite lineup shifts, the Wood brothers kept the band active, releasing singles and albums through punk labels like Dirtnap Records, Slovenly Records, and their Thriftstore label. In 2011, they signed with In the Red Records, releasing their fifth self-titled album, and in 2014, they released „Kill the Kool.“
