What’s the difference between a hit song and a shit song? Night Court isn’t sure – so they just ignore the question and embrace the contradiction – giant songs in puny packages, fearless melodies laced with hopeless anxiety, hits hidden within shit(s).

The Vancouver power trio (Emilor – drums and vox, Dave-O – guitar and vox, Jiffy – bass and vox) began with lifelong friends emailing song ideas during the Covid lockdowns. Little did they know those songs would snowball into an avalanche of releases: Nervous Birds One! (Snappy Little Numbers + Debt Offensive Records, 2021), Nervous Birds Too! (SLN + DOR, 2022), Greatest Hits (cassette compilation of Nervous Birds One and Too released in Spain, Discos Peroquébien, 2022), HUMANS! (SLN + DOR, Idiotapes in France, 2023), the Frater Set EP (Dromedary Records, 2023), the “Shit Split Part Duh” 7” w/ the Dumpies (Hovercraft Records, 2024) and $HIT MACHINE (Recess Records, 2024). Most recently, the Nervous Birds duology has been compiled, remastered, and released on vinyl for the first time as the Nervous Birds LP (SNL, DOR, Drunk Dial Records + Shield Recordings in Europe, 2025).
